Equality Charter School is seeking a dynamic, talented reading intervention teacher who is passionate about meeting the literacy needs of struggling, adolescent students. The adolescent remedial reader comes with a unique set of challenges. We are looking for an educator who knows how to build trusting relationships with struggling readers and who knows how to meet their literacy needs (trained in teaching reading - intervention work). • Build trusting relationships with struggling readers • Provide small group reading instruction for all high school scholars in the remedial reading program (some decoding, some fluency, some comprehension groups) • Oversee initial testing of all new scholars to identify struggling readers and determine their needs • Analyze data to create reading groups, and develop schedules • Administer ongoing reading assessments to monitor progress of remediation efforts • Collaborate with classroom teachers, as needed, around supporting remedial reading scholars in the mainstream, literacy- based subjects • Communicate with parents/guardians of remedial reading scholars as needed • Collaborate with other Reading Specialists to ensure programs support each other and align appropriately across school divisions • Lead or co-lead literacy-focused professional development sessions, as needed
