Job Summary:
At Desert View Academy, the School Leader role goes beyond traditional principal responsibilities. As a culture leader, the Principal actively nurtures the welfare of teachers, students, parents, and staff on both personal and professional levels. The School Leader casts the vision and propels the school forward in educating students with knowledge, empowering students with character, and equipping students for life. Additionally, the Leader provides instructional, academic, and leadership support and development to all of our DVA family (instructional teams, students, parents, and staff).

Essential Functions of the Job: 

  • Develop a plan for achieving the school's vision; achieve a common understanding with the local charter and public school community and communicate the vision that supports the school's goals, and articulate the school's values to staff, students and parents and model those values 
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to the formulation and implementation of the school's instructional and program plans 
  • Engage parents and community in planning and implementing programs, including community use of the school site 
  • Create an effective team of staff, teachers, parents, guardians and community volunteers jointly responsible for the attainment of school goals and committed to achieving excellence 
  • In collaboration with Human Resources hire school staff, including teachers and school-based support staff 
  • Provide instructional leadership in advancing proven and innovative teaching and learning practices
  • Manage and facilitate group planning and problem-solving sessions 
  • Work with teachers, learning coaches and support staff to ensure cohesion in the grade level teams as well as the overall goals and cohesion towards the overall goals of the school 
  • Continually monitor progress on all measures of school and staff performance; build on the strengths of staff; recognize improvement and growth areas and quantify those results 
  • Manage and facilitate the analysis of student achievement data and problem-solving necessary to achieve continuous improvement 
  • Through systematic data collection ensure that staff and students are performing at or above grade level through evaluation of all programs and techniques used by instructional and support staff 
  • Leverage technology to most effectively assist staff and students 
  • Support and monitor the development of all staff and implementation of program improvements 
  • Work closely with the CEO and COO to ensure that the current school structure is meeting the needs of the students, parents and staff and engage in planning to ensure the school will continue to meet the needs of future growth and standards 
  • Have a system in place so that students, parents or staff can discuss concerns related to the functions of the school 
  • Collaborates with COO and CEO to develop school specific policies and procedures and ensures that staff and students are aware of which of those policies and procedures apply to them and how they need to ensure adherence to such

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must have Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Master’s Degree in Education and experiences in the field preferred.  
  • Must be able to obtain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

Essential Physical Functions and Working Conditions 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time 
  • Must be able to traverse whenever necessary to fulfill the needs of the position 
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other electronic devices which will require repetitive motions 
  • Must be able to position yourself to assist staff, students or other duties as assigned 
  • Will regularly perform duties that require repetitive motion 
  • Must be able to communicate, this is both by being able to talk and to hear and be able to observe your surroundings 
  • May need to transport boxes, computer equipment and any other equipment necessary to fulfill the essential functions of the job 
  • Exposure to working conditions: the job primarily is indoors so exposure to florescent lighting and other elements typical in a school setting. May also be exposed to outdoor elements when performing outside job responsibilities

All of the RAGHT participating entities offer the same medical, prescription drug, dental and vision benefits and all pay the same premium rates.
