In July 2024, Unbound Stockton Community School will open its doors to its founding class of students and eventually serve 300 students during the 2028-2029 school year. Job Summary of the Founding Associate Teacher

The Associate Teacher will assist certificated teachers in reinforcing instruction to individuals or small groups of students, monitor and report student progress, and aid in classroom and schoolwide culture activities, while also performing a variety of clerical duties in support of the academic program. The Associate Teacher will support all leaders and staff and will be evaluated by and report to the School Community Manager.

Qualifications

Unbound Stockton Community School has launched a search for an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and mission driven Associate Teacher. To enable us to select the candidate most qualified to oversee and support the implementation of our academic program in collaboration with our classroom teachers. Our team member will support instruction, classroom culture, differentiation supports and small group teaching while also building relationships with students.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of the school
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with school age children with demonstrated success
  • Completion of DOJ Background Check and TB Testing, post hire

Responsibilities

Grade Level and Teacher Support

  • Support grade level teacher in the management of classroom management and culture, to ensure all students are fully engaged and learning
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student as directed by the teacher
  • Provide instruction to students with special needs in accordance with IEP utilizing support services as appropriate
  • Challenge and accelerate all students no matter their academic needs
  • Assist teachers in assessing students and recording student results
  • Track student information and maintain accurate records as directed by the teacher
  • Build strong relationships and partnerships with students and families
  • Provide instruction under the supervision of a certificated teacher

Professional Activities

  • Participate in professional development
  • Support school wide goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school wide initiatives
  • Perform duties such as cafeteria, yard duty, traffic duty, or other student monitorering as assigned for the purposes for providing a safe and positive working environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with staff in service of school mission and vision
  • Practice effective restorative practices to resolve conflict both with staff and students
  • Collaborate to improve instructional practices
  • Collaboratively plan and support instructional material and assessments
  • Learn and utilize effective, collaborative co-teaching strategies
  • Reflect and improve performance with teachers, students, and parents.

Employment

  • Permanent Full Time or Part Time, Non-Exempt Position
  • Position follows 11-month calendar
  • At-Will Agreement

Compensation and Benefits

The Associate Teacher position hourly pay range is from $24 - $32 per hour based on experience.
