In July 2024, Unbound Stockton Community School will open its doors to its founding class of students and eventually serve 300 students during the 2028-2029 school year. Job Summary of the Founding School Community Manager - Admin Position

The School Community Manager, will manage the school culture and aspects embedded in our academic plan and programming, including the implementation of structures and systems used to build community; advance diversity, equity, and inclusion; teach social-emotional competence; and allow students to unpack identify and difference. Accordingly, the School Community Manager will oversee implementation of Morning Roots, Community Roots, Active Engagement Blocks, and Lunchtime Clubs. Additionally, the School Community Manager will set expectations for and support teachers in implementing restorative practices and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. The School Community Manager will also oversee parent engagement initiatives, working to involve and fully immerse families in the culture and community of our school. The School Community Manager will design and deliver professional development in relevant areas, working in collaboration with the School Director around staff trainings. The School Community Manager reports to and is evaluated by the School Director.

Qualifications

Unbound Stockton Community School has launched a search for an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and mission driven School Community Manager. To enable us to fill this position with a leader who will effectively cultivate and sustain our intended school culture, as well as support the implementation of our programmatic structures and practices intended to solidify our culture and build community, we will prioritize the following qualifications:

  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience overseeing a school’s academic, operational, and fiscal performance, preferably in a charter school environment.
  • Evidence of positive student outcomes and achievement of established accountability goals as a result of leadership
  • Understanding of data analysis and the use of results to make strategic decisions
  • Strong knowledge of restorative practices, PBIS, and culturally-sustaining pedagogy and practices
  • Ability to design and deliver relevant professional development
  • Experience in planning and implementing school events
  • An Administrative Services Credential and an appropriate clear prerequisite Credential (ex: California Teaching Credential, Pupil Personnel Services Credential, Speech-Language Pathology Credential, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred

Responsibilities

School Leadership

  • Provides high-quality, helpful instructional coaching with frequent and scheduled teacher observations, actionable and bite-sized feedback, and accountability for adjustment in practice
  • Develops their own and teacher’s knowledge of best practices in instructional methods and teaches teachers how to match particular strategies to gaps in student mastery
  • With guidance from the school director, leads the planning and goal setting for the grades/departments that he/she coaches and ensures alignment with school-wide goals
  • Plans and leads targeted professional development to support the development and impact of educator practices.

School Culture

  • Model strong staff and student culture
  • Lead school-wide social emotional development and behavior management systems
  • Supports teachers in understanding process and roles in student support and intervention and develops systems and structures to ensure that limited time is spent on reactive student discipline
  • Manages parts of the daily school operations (e.g. arrival/dismissal, lunch/recess, school trips)
  • Acts as the first Leadership Team contact on student discipline intervention and parent engagement hierarchy
  • Determines next steps for issues that rise above the teacher/grade level/department chair

School Community

  • Guides the strategy to engage, parents, community and community stakeholders regularly to ensure they are invested in the school direction and informed of progress; ensures they are appropriately involved in school decision making
  • Provides input into the school-based strategic planning and identifies what the school’s strategic plan means for his/her own leadership and people that he/she manages
  • Responding to emails from teachers, parents and community members in a timely manner
  • Plans and facilitates school events, professional development, and family events

Compensation and Benefits

The School Community Manager position offers a competitive salary range with a manager band of $75,000 - $82,000 depending on years of experience and educational degrees. Additional stipends are available based on additional education or licensure. Unbound Stockton also offers competitive employee benefits rates with regards to health, dental, vision, and participation in the CalSTRS retirement system. The role looks to be promoted into a director band in Year 2 whose salary ranges from $85,000 - $92,000.
