Middle School Science Teacher
Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County is a warm, inclusive Jewish Day School that educates children from Early Childhood through Eighth Grade with a vigorous dual curriculum in General and Judaic studies. We are seeking a highly qualified, passionate, and collaborative teacher of science. Candidate will be a role model who can help foster our students’ social, emotional, and academic growth, implement a variety of instructional strategies, and who has familiarity with the latest educational models to enhance student learning for the 21st century.
The ideal candidate has:
● Bachelor’s degree in Science, Secondary Education, and/or equivalent
● An understanding of effective science instruction and content
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● An understanding of child/adolescent development and how social emotional factors impact learning
● An ability to build relationships with students that foster a positive classroom environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and take academic risks
● A belief that all children can learn at high levels
Schechter Bergen Science Teacher Responsibilities:
● Teach a full course load of science classes to middle school students including planning and implementing lessons using the curriculum and school pacing guides
● Engage in a cycle of assessment to instruction by planning for formative assessments that provide students with multiple options for demonstrating their learning
● Maintain accurate and consistent records of evidence of students learning
● Communicate regularly with parents through conferences, emails, and phone calls to discuss students' progress, sharing successes and working in partnership to enhance student development
● Collaborate with learning specialists to create plans of support for identified students
● Serve as an Advisor to a small group of students in middle school utilizing the Responsive Classroom Advisory Program
● Engage with school based coaches and fellow educators in team meetings to continuously learn and grow as an educator

Salary $55,000-$65,000
