Cajal Academy is a mission-driven, innovative new school in Fairfield County, CT for a small, mixed age cohort of kids who have very high analytical reasoning skills, coupled with an area of learning, social-emotional or neurophysiological differences. We have an expert multi-disciplinary team, including licensed therapists and an internationally-recognized neuropsychologist. Together, we are developing a whole new approach to education, using modern neuroscientific research to empower kids to optimize their own learning, social & emotional outcomes. We're looking for passionate, intellectually-curious educators excited to contribute teaching expertise to our team of experts in how children learn, develop & socialize. All Cajal Academy team members must be flexible thinkers with very high analytical skills and strong attention to detail. The successful applicant will have a strong grasp of a range of instructional strategies, although candidates from non-traditional backgrounds will also be considered. Teacher certification is desirable but not required. Regardless of background, (s)he must be able to flexibly adapt educational strategies and/or develop new ones to respond to the needs of this cohort or of a particular child. The successful candidate must also be a team player who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fluid environment. (S)he will be intellectually curious, and eager to learn from expert colleagues about the science of how children learn, develop and grow and to apply the new pedagogical and social-emotional approaches that the team has developed. (S)he must be comfortable with the fluidity that is required to provide highly-responsive, quality education to children with complex needs.

The opportunity to collaborate and work side-by-side with our expert psychologist/neuropsychologist and licensed occupational and physical therapists provides unique and transferable on-the-job training in how to understand and support the needs of children who have complex learning profiles and, often, atypical neurological development. All teachers receive ongoing training in how to implement the novel pedagogical, social-emotional and growth mindset strategies and curricula that we are developing. Additionally, children of staff members are invited to enroll in the program, so long as they meet admissions eligibility.
