East Clayton Elementary was built in 1997 as part of the growing population of Clayton, NC along the Hwy 42 East corridor situated along the Neuse River. As a result, our school boasts a theme of natural habitats with a forest trail and outdoor classroom, walking trail, and hand-painted murals which bring the outside habitats inside. The total population is approximately 520 students in grades Pre-K through 5th. Throughout the journey of learning at East Clayton Elementary, we focus our priorities on student safety, academic achievement, and embed daily skills and lessons to help students grow socially, academically, and metacognitively to prepare them for independence as they move to the next level of their school journey. Through this, we strive to create an environment where students love to be and want to learn.
