Innovation Charter High School ("Innovation") is a community-based charter school located in East Harlem. Effective instruction and support is delivered to our students through an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) Model with a GenEd teacher and a SPED teacher in core subject classrooms. Teachers employ social-emotional learning and principles of culturally responsive teaching to equitably develop all learners.
The Inclusive Education Team composed of counselors, teachers and administrators collaborates at every grade level to identify the need for multi-tiered systems for student support.
All staff develop individual professional development plans (IPGP) that align to the shared school goals, with the support of our Program Manager for Professional Development. Because staff lead professional development and school change initiatives at different leves within the organization, we pratice a shared leadership approach. The School Management Team, chaired by the Executive Director and Principal, oversee operational matters, governance, instruction, school culture, finance, human resources, and staffing.
The ideal candidate has at least 2-3 years of teaching experience as a certified teacher, and is prepared to embrace a diverse urban population that includes high-needs learners and a substantial population of students with disabilities. This candidate is prepared to embrace the many professional development opportunities offered at Innovation and to dive into our school culture, including our afterschool actives (additional compensation is offered for these activities). This candidate is also comfortable working collaboratively with co-teachers, guidance, discipline, and family and community engagement staff.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Innovation typically pays 3% more than the compensation amounts listed in the UFT-DOE salary charts. Innovation offers an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, and a 401k retirement plan with an employer matching contribution of up to 5%.
