Meridian Academy supports its students in their growth as young historians, scientists, artists, mathematicians, writers, and productive members of their community. Our classes are project-based and interdisciplinary. Students engage in original investigations in all courses. 70% of our students are from Boston and 70% are from public schools. We are committed to serving an economically and racially diverse student body. Our school is intentionally small (85 students over 7 grades), informal, and based on respect and trust. We dedicate 38% of our budget to financial aid (the national average is 12%). Our mascot is the cuttlefish.
The ideal candidate believes: That students can do remarkable work and that the best work is long-term and authentic (i.e., not tests). That teachers must be continual learners. That teachers should work with their colleagues and students in many capacities. That learning is intrinsically fun and motivating. You have deep and broad academic interests, a sense of humor, a willingness to work hard, an eagerness to experiment and use the Greater Boston area as a resource.
