School in the Square (S2) is a growing charter school currently serving elementary and middle school students, with plans to serve families from Pre-K through High School by 2025. S2 engages, educates and empowers its students to respond mindfully and creatively to life’s opportunities and challenges, built on the belief that to optimize learning, each child and educator should feel known, heard, and safe as well as challenged. Our community is grounded in principles of justice, equity, diversity and inclusivity (JEDI), enacting a culturally responsive and sustaining lens to our pedagogical practice. S2 provides a sustainable, progressive, rigorous, learning community in which students thrive physically, emotionally, and academically and adults grow through rich and robust professional learning. We have taken seriously our obligation as a public school. Since the pandemic started we pivoted to completely close the digital divide, provide regular food pantries and deliveries, help with rent relief and anything else families need.
