We are a K-6 school serving 250 students. Our mission is to 'build a solid educational foundation for students with dyslexia and develop their rich potential.' All students have a dyslexia diagnosis. We use the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading. Students are with us for, on average, 2 to 3 years, and then outplace to mainstream schools. We have two fully-trained teachers in each classroom of, on average, 10 students. We were founded by David T. Schenck in 1959 and are located near Chastain Park in Atlanta.
That all students can learn to read. That, as a teacher, you are a passionate, life-long learner yourself. You believe that teaching is an extraordinarily collaborative endeavor and involves, first, connecting with your students and families, immediately followed by a strong collaborative relationship with your teaching partner and colleagues.
