The mission of Urban Prep is to provide a comprehensive, high-quality college preparatory education to young men that results in our graduates succeeding in college. Urban Prep teachers provide students with a rigorous, high quality and engaging academic experience. Maintaining academic excellence requires that teachers work collaboratively with the Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or Department Chair to effectively communicate expectations to students, parents, members of the community, and colleagues from across our network of schools. Teachers report to and are evaluated by the Principal and Assistant Principal. At least a Bachelor’s degree Current and valid teaching license preferred • Have a deep understanding and command of best practices in teaching and learning • Be adept at data analysis • Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders • Be flexible and possess a desire to work as a member of a team • Know, understand, and incorporate the principles established in the Urban Prep Creed and promote the 8 Core Values of Urban Prep in all aspects of work and when interacting with students and colleagues • Create a positive, orderly learning environment that engages students, maximizes instructional time, promotes and sustains a positive school culture • Manage students’ behavior in the classroom by establishing and re-enforcing expectations and procedures • Accurately demonstrate knowledge in his/her content area, instructional methods, and relevant skills • Plan/deliver skills-based lessons with activities that incorporate knowledge of student academic need
