Vanguard Classical School (VCS) was one of the first charter schools approved to open in APS. It was founded on the mission “to facilitate individual academic achievement and character development through a rigorous, content-rich, inclusive learning environment.” VCS’s vision is to have graduates who are “literate in the classics and the ideals of Western Civilization, while valuing the diversity of ideas, abilities, and cultures in today’s world, and be prepared to contribute meaningfully to their communities.”
Starting with the West campus, VCS opened its doors in 2007 to students in grades K-6. The school added grades 7 and 8 in the following years. In 2009-10, the school expanded its facilities to add more classrooms to serve its growing enrollment. With wait lists in multiple grade levels, VCS opened a second facility at the East campus in 2014. Initially serving students in grades K-10, 11th and 12th grades were added in the following years and the very first senior class graduated in 2017. Today, VCS has the privilege of educating over 1100 students in grades K-8 at VCS West and K-12 at VCS East. The school feels incredibly lucky to serve a student population
that is rich with diversity, and includes students with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, student-centered teacher with a positive attitude who is energetic about the subjects they teach, while sharing the passion for learning themselves.
