Job Description
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will further the mission of KIPP Texas by ensuring that all students have the behavioral support they need to succeed. The BCBA will pursue high-quality interventions, serving as a thought partner, problem solver, and
change agent to internal and external stakeholders, with a steadfast commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Position Summary
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) at the Primary Transformation School will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior intervention plans to support students with behavioral challenges. This individual will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other support staff to create a positive learning environment and promote the academic and social-emotional success of students. The BCBA will also provide direct support, training, and consultation to staff on effective behavior management strategies and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
Behavior Intervention Planning and Implementation:
○ Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) to identify the root causes of student behaviors.
○ Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) tailored to meet the needs of each student.
○ Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the consistent application of BIPs across all school settings.
Training and Professional Development:
○ Provide ongoing training and coaching to teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff on effective behavior management strategies, data collection, and implementation of BIPs.
○ Lead professional development sessions focused on understanding and addressing student behavior challenges.
Data Collection and Analysis:
○ Oversee and support the collection of behavior data to monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
○ Analyze behavior data regularly to make informed decisions about the adjustment of BIPs and other interventions.
Collaboration and Consultation:
○ Work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, school counselors, and administrators to support students with behavioral challenges.
○ Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings to discuss student progress, challenges, and the effectiveness of interventions.
○ Engage with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies to support behavior management at home.
Crisis Intervention and Support:
○ Provide crisis intervention support as needed, including developing and implementing de-escalation strategies.
○ Train staff in crisis prevention and intervention techniques, such as CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or other approved methods.
Compliance and Documentation:
○ Ensure that all behavior intervention plans and related documentation meet district, state, and federal guidelines.
○ Maintain accurate records of assessments, plans, progress, and communications with parents and staff.
School-Wide Positive Behavior Support:
○ Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide positive behavior support initiatives.
○ Promote a positive school culture by modeling and encouraging positive behavioral practices among students and staff.
Other Duties: Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned by the Managing Director of Special Populations.
Qualifications
Required:
○ Master's Degree/Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
○ Current Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
○ A minimum of two years of experience working as a BCBA in a school setting, preferably at the primary level.
○ Strong knowledge of behavior assessment and intervention techniques.
○ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
○ Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
Preferred:
○ Experience working in a school undergoing transformation or with at-risk student populations.
○ Familiarity with the unique needs of students in a primary school setting and supporting students with Autism.
○ Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

Salary is based on years of experience, degree of education, and level of expertise.
